About Dakhla Weather

Last updated: 3 August 2026

Dakhla Weather is an independent weather resource for Dakhla and the Oued Ed-Dahab coast of Morocco. It exists because most general weather sites treat Dakhla as an ordinary desert town, while the people who actually go there — kitesurfers, wing foilers, surfers, fishermen, desert travellers — need different numbers: wind in knots, gust ratios, wave height, sea temperature and the hour the wind fills in.

What we publish

  • A live forecast for Dakhla: temperature, wind, gusts, UV index, pressure, visibility and air quality.
  • A dedicated kitesurf forecast with wind in knots and the rideable window for each of the next five days.
  • Spot-level forecasts for the lagoon, the ocean side and the desert excursion points.
  • A climate guide with monthly averages, plus a page for every month of the year.
  • Long-form guides on when to visit, how the trade wind works, and what to pack.

Where the data comes from

Live and forecast data are provided by Open-Meteo, which aggregates national weather-service models. Marine data (wave height, period and sea surface temperature) come from the Open-Meteo marine model, and air quality from the CAMS European air quality service. Climate averages are computed from the ERA5 reanalysis dataset over a multi-year period, not copied from other websites.

Independence

We are not affiliated with any kite camp, hotel or tour operator in Dakhla, and we do not accept payment for favourable mentions. The site is funded by display advertising. See our editorial policy for how we handle accuracy and corrections.
