Editorial Policy

This page explains how content on Dakhla Weather is produced, checked and corrected. It applies to every forecast page, climate guide and article on the site.

Data sources

• Forecasts and current conditions: Open-Meteo, aggregating national weather-service models.
• Marine conditions: the Open-Meteo marine model for wave height, period and sea surface temperature.
• Air quality: the CAMS European air quality model.
• Climate averages: computed by us from the ERA5 reanalysis dataset over a multi-year period, with the period stated on the page.

How guides are written

Articles are written around the underlying data rather than around marketing copy. Where an article makes a quantitative claim — average wind speed, sea temperature, rainfall — that figure comes from the same dataset used to build our climate pages, and the period it covers is disclosed.

Practical recommendations (kite sizes, wetsuit thickness, packing advice) are general guidance based on commonly accepted ranges for the conditions described. They are not a substitute for local instruction or your own judgement on the day.

Accuracy and limitations

Weather forecasts are probabilistic. Model output for a coastal desert location with strong thermal effects — exactly what Dakhla is — can differ from what you experience on the beach, particularly for wind timing and fog. Our climate figures are reanalysis-derived averages for a model grid cell, not measurements from an official weather station, so small differences from other published figures are expected.

Corrections

If you find an error, email contact@weatherdakhla.com. Substantive corrections to articles are made in place and the “updated” date on the article is changed.

Advertising and independence

The site is funded by display advertising served by third-party networks. Advertisers have no influence over editorial content, and we do not accept payment in exchange for favourable coverage of any camp, hotel or operator. Any content that is ever sponsored will be labelled as such.

AI use

Drafting and data processing may be assisted by software tools, but every published page is reviewed by a human before it goes live, and all quantitative claims are traced back to the datasets listed above.
