Main lagoon camps

The northern lagoon camps offer the easiest all-round setup: broad sandy launches, side-onshore trade wind and rescue boats. This is the best base for learners and mixed-level groups. Conditions change with the tide, with more chop at high water and wider shallow areas as the tide drops.

PK25 and the flat-water sections

PK25 sits farther along the lagoon and is popular with freestyle riders. Sandbanks can create exceptionally flat water, but the usable area moves with the tide. Ask locally before driving onto unmarked tracks and never park on wet salt flats.

Speed spot and crossings

The famous speed spot delivers short runs of butter-flat water behind a sandbank. It is not a complete beginner venue: access, tide and return logistics matter. Downwinders toward Dragon Island should be organised with a school or camp that provides support.

Foum Labouir

On the Atlantic side, Foum Labouir is a wave venue. The normal trade wind is offshore there, so it suits experienced riders with reliable self-rescue skills. Swell is usually best from autumn through early spring.
